About Me: I have been living and working in Japan for the past 3 years, and I intend to stay here for the foreseeable future. I got my first and second visas from NOVA, as I taught there for about 22 months, before quitting to work for a travel company. I speak passable Japanese for everyday life, and hope to be completely fluent in the next couple of years. I have many varied interests, but somehow they're all linked back to Japan... hence the fact I don't want to leave. Saying it's not easy living here is an understatement, and I wouldn't reccomend it for everyone. If you want to know, I think teaching English is fine for people who just want to do it for a year or less and then go on to something better. There are jobs apart from teaching English in Japan, but they are few and far inbetween. If you are serious about moving here you MUST be serious about learning Japanese as well.
*Cough* Anyway, when I'm not at work I'm attending live concerts of amature and indies Visual Kei bands. Most major bands I like have broken up, or I'd see those kinds of concerts a lot more. I like the smaller bands because they are creative and experimental, and are entertaining above all else. Some bands have great music, others make me laugh, others make me think- Visual Kei is all kinds of genres stuck together. I have an archive of all my live reports, and although you will probably never have heard of most of these bands, they were once very important to me. The average life span of a Visual Kei band is less than a year, so most bands I saw 3 years ago are now broken up- some member continued, but the rest have retired. The archive is to help me remember, and for anyone curious about certain bands.
